need serious help with my android battery life. i have the samsung moment from sprint. ive had it on for 2 hrs and its already down to 5% battery after it was 90% wen i unplugged it. i have friends that have fones on for days at a time without charging it. pls help yahoo user.thanks

There is much debate about whether it is useful, but those that use a task killer app swear by them. Sounds like you may have a rogue app running down your battery.
One friend with an android phone swears by his task killer. I don’t use one personally, but I use a dock in my vehicle and a charger at work.
Go into an android forum and read about task killers, or just download one from the market. Experiment by shutting down apps one at a time to see if you can figure out which one is draining your battery, if that is the problem.

How do you extend android battery life?
I unplugged my Samsung Moment from Sprint (great phone by the way) and it was 80% battery. About 10 minutes later, (now) its 20% battery. I already got the TasKiller app, lowered my brightness to almost none, adjusted the screen timeout, deleted old texts, stopped Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and everything else. I played and app called Zedge for those 10 minutes and think it has something to do with it. Yahoo users, do you have any helpful tips for me besides the things I already did?? Thanks a million!!

Aaron answers:
The Samsung Moment is definitely a great phone but lots of people are having disappointing battery problems these days. These new tips from what you said you already tried should help you squeeze out a little more juice:
-Use Black Backgrounds. White is an energy intense color and uses a lot more energy than black so wherever possible use darker colors. You can even Google in black at http://bGoog.com. Mobile phones with AMOLED screens like the Samsung Moment have the biggest savings displaying black with some units using up to 7 times less power!
-Check Email As You Need It. Most modern cell phones can check email automatically at some configured schedule or have it pushed to the phone. These features can consume energy needlessly when you want you phone running the longest. Simply turn them off and check your email manually or extend the schedule to have the checks as far apart as possible.
-Turn The Volume Down. Only have your volume set as loud as you need it when listening to music or watching videos as the louder it is the more power it’s draining your battery.
-Keep Your Battery Cool. Hot heat is a battery killer causing poor performance and can even cause your battery permanent damage! Avoid leaving your phone in your car on those hot summer days.
-Go Without Those Good Vibrations. While we all may like to have vibrate mode on, it should be turned off! Vibrate mode on your phone uses a lot more power than a basic ring tone on your phone.
I hope this helps… Cheers!

How to extend the life of my Android Apex?
The battery dies REALLY fast even if i dont use it all day and leave it in Standby mode(wi fi isnt on or anything) Any tips?

Aaron answers:
I have the same phone. Uscellular said all smartphone batteries die faster than other phones do because of how much they do.
Get the advanced task killer (it’s free) and every once in a while go in and kill the apps you aren’t using. It helps alot!

George asks…
How do I get root access on HTC Hero?
I need root access for multiple reasons
-underclock CPU/extend battery life
-tether to laptop for internet
-uninstall bloatware
specs:
HTC Hero
Sprint
Android 2.1 (update 1)
Build 2.31.651.7
I’ve been searching forums, but apparently the update fixed an exploit to gain root access. I just want to know a clear (not necessarily easy) way to gain root access with the update.

Aaron answers:
App call super one click does it all for you automatically. Download this on your pc and follow instructions.

Android Help Please!!!!!!?
I have no idea how to work my new Droid Global 2.2. I keep googling stuff and confusing myself more.
1. Is there any apps to extend battery life?
2. What is the deal with Advanced Task Killer and Watchdog and Froyo?
3. What are widgets and I think I deleted some the phone came with, how do I get them back?
4. How do I get Itunes on my phone?
5. How do I organize and lock my photos?
6. How do I move an app icon back to the bottom screen where most are.
7. In my Applications Settings there is like 30 apps I just can’t use that the phone came with. How do I use them?
An answer to any of these questions would be awesome. =)

Aaron answers:
1) Smartphones are not known for their extended battery life. They have a lot of items draining the battery. Set your display to either dim or automatic brightness, might save same what. Also download and use Advanced Task Killer, see 2)
2)Advanced Task Killer (ATK) is a definite need, it keeps unneeded apps from running, which can use the battery and also slow your phone causing lag.
3)Widgets are kind of like little function/power keys for the app it represents, almost like a shortcuts], but it also causes the app to function. Ex, if you have the ATK widget on one of your home screens, you just tap it and it kills the unneeded Apps. The Google widget will add small Google search bar to the screen you add it to, you can type in what you are searching for and it sill take you straight to the internet search page.
4)iTunes is owned by Apple and can only be added to an iPhone, However there is a music player already on your phone.
5)Your photos are automatically organized in the order they were taken.
6)To move an icon touch and hold it until you feel it vibrate and then you can slide it around where ever you want it to go.
7) I don’t understand what you mean by you can’t use them. Go into where you bought the phone and have them explain the apps to you.
